This is dedicated to my children and the hurt I feel of knowing they’re so far away.

Justifiable Rage

I need this to hurt me
Cause I need to show you
How much it hurts
To see you hurting as well
The impotence
This fucking incapability.

If I don’t dig out all this shit that’s in my heart
This shit is gonna drag me even further down
Well, fuck all this distance keeping us apart
To these chains of restriction I’ll never be bound.

I need this to hurt me
Cause I can feel the pain
How much it destroys me
How much it destroys you as well
The unknowing
The ever fucking wondering.

You don’t know how angry, how sad
This makes me
You don’t know the frustration
All the things I wish I could say
I could do
To save you
Come here!
Come here!
Fuck the laws that keep us apart
I hate them!
I love you!
With my denying breath
I’ll always scream
You’re the light that keeps me alive!

Even though I’m trapped in this cage
I won’t give up as long as you love me
All this concern, this justifiable rage
Is fueled by the fact that you need me.

Watercolor

City of everlasting dreams
Of junkies and children
And everyone in between
City of broken promises
Of hopeless romantics
Superstars’ Shangri-La.

The sun glowing on your face
Makes you forget about the poor man’s disgrace
This is heaven in all of its grace
This is where you belong, yes, this is your place.

L.A., you made me feel like I was in a TV Show
Yes, you made me feel like I am the main character in this feat
We dance for attention, this is how we flow
Spare for some change, so much talent wasted in these streets.

Your skies are like a picture painted in watercolor
It is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed.

Step on my face if I made it big
If I am/was truly great,
Maybe you’ll notice me
This city sure smells of melancholy
A child’s daydream
One day we’ll make a breakthrough.

The sun burning on your skin
Reminds you of the hardship of pushing forward
It cannot end if it has not begun
Fill yourself with courage, no sense in being a coward.

L.A., you made me feel like I was an award winner
Yes, you made me feel like this is where I should spend my days
How we beg for real love, assertion’s growing leaner
Spare for some time, so many stories deluded in shorn ways.

Your skies are like a picture painted in watercolor
It is the most beautiful thing I’ve ever witnessed
You’re like nothing else, in that I bet my bottom dollar
Your breeze brings to my soul a serene stillness.

You are like an eternal vacation
I wish to bathe in your beaches forever
High by this mirage contemplation
I wish to embark upon this endeavor.

Thalassic Tears

All that we’ve fought about
Has been a farce
Has been a dream
How foolish of me to believe
That there could be light
In these darkened hearts
That there could be life
In the cold and silent
As they get drunk
In their wealth and power
Having us trapped
In their hamster wheel.

While we chant songs
About our hurt and loneliness
They’ll be cashing in
The incentives of their promises
Cause left or right
We are always directionless
And the ones to help
Will always stay there motionless.

Back into the river
Back into where we lie lifeless
Deep down at the bottom
With the broken and hopeless
Collecting aquatic scraps
For when the uprising comes
To be ready up in arms
To turn your kingdom undone.

So let’s not drown
In these thalassic tears
Let’s us stand ground
And go against our fears
Cause when tyranny tries
Taking our voices and rights
That’s when we fight it
With all our will and might.

Wrote this last night. Felt the muse in me.

Nautical Voyage

One more star passes us by
In the galaxy of our dreams
Where we sleep in sparks
And we fall like meteorites.

Into the atmosphere
From the big black gap
Grabbed by the magnetic field
Pulled in by gravity.

What once lied above
Now cries bellow
On the dark side of love
Is where you find fear.

There in the mud
Where the tears of the clouds
Meet the bottom ground
And the roots bestowed upon.

We were once satellites
Orbiting around the sun
Two celestial bodies
That dreamt about earth.

We were snow flakes
In the winter storm
We would hug nature
And never let go.

What once lied in us
Now hides under
From the dark inside of clouds
It rains and thunders.

There in the muck
Where two figures take shape
Down on the bottom ground
Where the roots are bestowed upon.

The green and the brown
Paints such a magical color
Like fruits that are grown
With an intrinsical flavor.

On this, our nautical voyage
We go through these asteroid rings
Across the torrents of space debris
We’ve survived the geomagnetic disturbance
And now we find ourselves safe and appease.

We are not ordinary chondrites
We are cosmic jewels carved by Father Sky
We are children brought in by Gaia
To live off of this planet’s elemental nuclei.

I wrote this while thinking about a novel I want to write…

Disowned Daughters

You and me
We’re not so different
From one another
What a sister could be to a brother
If a brother could reverse roles
Cause we’re both members of the same gender
Two dethroned, disowned daughters
That has been lingering on
Back in a time when
All that we were curious about
Had to be swept under rug
And now that years has passed us by
Now that we are a tad bit older
Have we kept the true intent
to be precarious and adventurous?
Or do we still need to be discreet
Just to keep a fatuous appearance?

For how long do you intent for me to keep silent?
You know they lived their lives without ever consulting anybody
No, my intention is not to bring your whole world down
But for how long do wish for us to live in shame with our heads bowed?

Oh, dear Molly Jenny
I never meant to strike to kill
But you don’t seem to understand
How betrayed by you I feel
When you don’t confront the world
When you conform to what you’re told
When you don’t come forward for the cause
We’ve fought so much about, for so long
Even when we ended up hidden, locked up in our rooms
With no other choice but biting our tongues.

In my heart of hearts there is this ever burning desire
That one day we’ll walk proudly against the oppressing fire
That we’ll stop walking blindfolded on this tightrope wire
To adjourn being something that we’ve been ashamed of
And instead become something for what could be admired.

Pierce in the Veil

This tunnel seems like a two way street
Where unknown faces get the meet
And a “hi” and smile can bright your day
So sometimes you don’t need to pretend when they
Ask about you and you say you’re “doing okay”

This seems like practicing to a wall
With all the times you think to call
And the phone beeps with words on a screen
Comes asking that awaited question “how have you been?”
“It’s been a long time we haven’t spoken or seen”

Your mind gets caught in a net
While floating somewhere around that trajectory set
Of thoughts that makes you feel so complete
“I hope this letter gets to you and you get to read.”

The airwaves have been blaring on
While somebody catches it and writes a song
Something that inspired them to think of you
Is that pierce in the veil that makes them look
That makes them aware that such surmise might be true.

The Proposal

Trying to find a way to say this
Because for me this is all too new
It has been lingering in my head for an eternity
And I don’t know to express without giving a clue.

I have no need to be what society expects of me
But when it comes to you I can’t help but to stay still
“So what is then?” You ask; “what is going to be?”
Would you wait forever to finally say what I feel?

I don’t know anything about gardens
Flowers be red, violet, yellow or blue
Is there any way that you can find me?
I seem to be lost in the thoughts of you.

How can a poet not be romantic?
I see this life for what is it
And you’re the best that has happened, the best experience
So what am I to do to extend and expand what we have here?

The words escape me and I have a lot to say
I have a need that seeks to fulfill in me everyday
And I bet that by now you’ve been patiently waiting
But I don’t know how to make this a memorable memory.

I don’t know much about pretty dresses
But a white gown would look beautiful on you
So what am I saying in these lexes and verses?
The one question that you want me to ask you.

So I’m ready to take on that step
If you’re ready to take it with me
This is the only way I know how to do this
And to hope that you say “yes”, so our lives will be complete.
